Friday Fives: The Color Challenge

Happy Friday! What better way to welcome your long-awaited weekend with some color? Take the Color Challenge and seek out happy hues this weekend at a few spots bound to cure your color craving.

Cupcake shop.

No matter what city you live in, there’s an array of saccharin-sweet cupcakes in colorful shades just waiting for you. Go find your favorite and treat yourself to this frosty, fluffy finger food.

Art Museum.

Alright, that seems pretty obvious, but get your color fix by seeking out art that you might not normally be drawn to. Find your local modern art museum and look specifically at vibrant pieces you’ve never seen before.

Nail Salon.

Maybe opt for neon tips this Friday? Pale peaches and pastels are pretty, but step out of the box and see how wearing full-on color makes you feel.

Farmers Market.

What better place to find color that satisfies your eyes and your body? Make a point to pick the most colorful array of veggies at your local market this weekend.

Boutique.

While you’re being good to your body, visit your favorite boutique or shop and pick up at least one vibrant piece that’s going to brighten your wardrobe.

With all this color coming around, see how your mood improves. Who knows, you may be searching for color every Friday from here on out!

Jewelry That Actually Grows (..?!)

We love a bit of green in our lives and something that is unique so we had to share this with you… it’s a ring that actually grows!

According to the product details here, these Growing Rings are “a mix of jewelry and plant, couture and organism”. You also need to water it like a normal plant in order to keep it healthy. Who would’ve thought?

We discovered these bright baubles over a year ago, but it seems they are now popping up all over the place—from Madewell, to these, handmade in Africa. They are the perfect bangles for infusing vibrant color into your summer wardrobe. Pile them on with metallics and other members of your arm party, or wear them a few at a time. High-res

Layer Upon Layer

We’re all about color, so when we stumbled upon this layered bracelet idea for summer we got excited. These DIY embellished friendship bracelets instantly update a look to make it fun and colorful.

Not only can personalize them and choose the colors you want, it also gave us a LOT of choices for which of our shoes we would choose to match them (due to too many options, we’re still undecided on that though!).

The best summer idea yet?

How pretty is this? We recommend taking advantage of the weather and celebrating summer with a picnic in the park, at the beach, or even during a weekend away.

If you want to keep it simple and easy, you can buy sandwiches and pastries from your local cafes. Otherwise you and your friends can make-your-own and bring cakes and drinks for each other to share and enjoy the company and the summer!

We are so in love with these colorful street-side installations. But, more than just colorful pieces of artwork, they hold deep sentiment to now Paris-based artist, Miss Maurice.

Maurice, 28, uses origami, lace, photography, painting, or embroidery for her works of art. These particular installations are made from thousands of origami pieces. For Maurice, they represent symbols of peace, inspired by the events on March 11, 2011, from the explosion of another plant at Fukushima in Japan.
